PBLT Is Not Just For The Kids

Sense of Accomplishment and Purpose
The NLT can help you complete projects in your community that will give you a sense of accomplishment and purpose like no other. You have an opportunity here to give back to your community by joining a group of other like minded leaders and activists out to make a change in the world around us. Something brought you to this site and If we don't take a leadership role... Who Will?

Gain a Glowing Advantage In Your Career
Your projects can also be applied to your work, giving you the edge you need for a promotion or a better job/career opportunity. Let's face it, employers are looking for someone with experience. One way to gain that experience is by completing projects in your community that will prove your ability to lead. Combined with tracking the entire project on a nationally recognized website and project portfolio, you will gain the credibility you need for your future career.

Become a Role Model
You can also use the NLT to simply track your projects and lead by example, becoming a role model for a future generation of leaders. The kids and youth of the NLT and of your community are looking for others to set the example for them to follow. Naturally they look to adults for guidance and leadership. This is your opportunity to become a hero in the eyes of a child. When a child looks to you for leadership and support, will your actions help shape their young minds in a positive way or a negative direction? When you complete community action projects and allow them to become a part of it, you will help teach them real leadership and respect along the way, effectively helping them gravitate towards becoming a future leader themselves.

Capturing the Moment
Your opportunities for greatness are all around you. Participating in PBLT is one of those vehicles that can help shape your future. By taking action, recording the results, and sharing your passion with others, you will effectively be taking a leadership role in your community. This could be a springboard for future opportunities that you may have overlooked in the past. Capture the moment now by taking action and building a PBLT Project Portfolio today so you can use it when the opportunity presents itself.

Include your friends!
As an act of leadership, you won't be completing these projects alone. Ask your friends and family to help you accomplish your goals.

Start Small and Grow
Your initial project can be something small. Your project doesn't have to be huge, every little bit counts! Begin to build your Project Portfolio with small projects, build success, and then grow your projects as your ability to lead grows.

Large Scale Projects
Once you've successfully completed a handful of smaller projects, you can start tackling a larger project that includes more people and will help a bigger cause. As college students, your ability to lead and inspire others is at an all time high. Turn that energy into ACTION in your community and watch your Leadership Skills develop through inspiring others to WANT to help you in your projects.

Rules...(or Guidelines) For You To Engage In A PBLT Project
  1. Every project must require the participant to involve one or more people in the endeavor.
  2. Every project must require some kind of benefit to something or someone in the community.
  3. Ideally, each project is chosen by the participant, the exception being projects that require several students and/or projects organized by the group leader.
  4. The initial project shouldn’t be a complicated one –and ought to involve no more than an hour or two of work (1-2 months for the first project and shouldn't take any more than 3-4 months between projects after that).
  5. Every project is to be documented in your NLT team's Project Portfolio.

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the wonderful impact you've had in Walker's life... He looks up to you [and the others in the NLT] with great respect and works hard on the leadership program goals you've established together. Thanks again and keep up your great work.

"Since starting my Leadership  [NLT] Journey, I've gained a new self image though goal setting, personal development, and body re-shaping and lost 50lbs. "

- Jen Stough

"The Leadership Quest Program has done a fantastic job boosting the confidence of my son. He feels more comfortable and self assured than he has ever been in the past. Abbott has also developed greater strength and flexibility through goal setting. I highly encourage others to join this program!"

"Clara's experience with the Leadership Quest Program has been very positive. Although we can see some very positive changes in many ways, there was one incident that spoke volumes to us; we had spoken to Clara's current teacher during open house and she was telling us how much Clara participates in class and raises her hand all the time. Until she set that goal, every teacher prior had told us how quiet and reserved she was!"

- Tami Schroeder

"...Its been amazing to watch our youngest daughter transform from a shy 5 year-old to a confident 9 year old. She has experienced the satisfaction that comes with overcoming one's fears to achieve your goals.
We have also witnessed a remarkable level of focus and determination in our older daughter. She has become goal oriented and has worked very hard for her multiple achievements...
We are very pleased with the [NLT] Leadership Program. Not only does Mr. Engels teach the skills needed to advance in martial arts, through this website and this program, he is helping to mold our children into responsible citizens. His leadership program focuses on the development of positive character traits through lessons involving goal-setting and community service projects... The Leadership Program comes highly recommended by all members of the Raykovich family!"
