Service Projects
Should Be Fun and Beneficial For Everyone
A study was done that
correlates community service with academic success;
students who maintain a weekly community service
record, 85% of the time, are more likely to succeed
and have a higher grade point average than those who
do none at all.
Leadership is Learned
Leaders are not born, they are created through
experiences, opportunities, and overcoming
adversity. Whether you already exhibit leadership
qualities, or you feel like you have no leadership
traits at all, you CAN become a leader. Your
journey towards leadership starts with a community
project and your project portfolio.
Learning
Skills For The Rest Of Your Life
Completing community action leadership projects
at your age is impressive, especially when you are
influencing others around you to help. You will
learn Leadership skills through your PBLT training
that will help you through High School and beyond.
Having Fun and
Making A Difference. You don’t need to be an adult to make a
difference. If your heart is telling you to
take positive action and make a difference
in your community or in your world, than use
the NLT to organize your thoughts and ideas
into a project to help your community and
your world

Through the NLT, You
will complete a project that is important to
you. Do you care about animals, the
environment, political issues, peace, world
awareness…etc? Your projects can range from
many different types and topics and should
not only be important to you but be fun and
educational too.
Include your
friends! As an act of leadership, you won't be
completing these projects alone. Ask your
friends and family to help you accomplish
your goals.
Start Small and Grow
Your initial project can be something
small. An example would be finding 10
friends to perform 10 acts of kindness each.
That equals 100 acts of kindness! Or another
example would be to find 10 friends to help
you pick up trash along the side of the road
(with parents help of course). Your project
doesn't have to be huge, every little bit
counts! Begin to build your Project
Portfolio with small projects, build
success, and then grow your projects as you
get older.
Large Scale Projects
Once you've successfully completed a handful of
smaller projects, you can start tackling a larger
project that includes more people and will help a
bigger cause. Our Youth Group of the NLT is one of
the most successful groups because of your
imagination and desire to help. Turn that energy
into ACTION in your community and watch your
Leadership Skills develop through inspiring others
to WANT to help you in your projects.

NOTE: At your age, though you don’t have to be an adult to
make a difference, you may need an adults’
support to help you get your project going.
Be sure to ask for your parents help and
permission in launching your project ideas.
